Math Resources for Families

There are many great resources online for helping families understand the math we do in school. Here are a few:

We use Bridges2 Mathematics in our school. This families website has all sorts of information, in English and Spanish, about what we are doing in each grade level. Each grade level page also has games and activities and more fun stuff to help your student, all of which is FREE. Pro: This website has a lot of fun stuff. Con: If you don't have a computer at home, please come to our family technology nights so you can learn more about this website and give it a try.

This is another fun website for families to do math together. Each grade level has games appropriate to what we are learning. We have this website on our classroom computers, too.  Pro: It is FREE and easy for children to learn on their own.  You can use it on your tablet or computer.  Con: It is only in English and I know some of you don't have computers or tablets. If that is the case, please come to our family technology nights so you can learn more about this website and give it a try.

Kahn Academy is a free learning resource for all ages.  This fabulous website can help explain almost any concept to you as well as your child. I use this website often, as a teacher and parent. My children also enjoy it. You can find lessons for everything from basic to advanced topics.  You could use this website to help you understand what your student is being taught and also to help your student learn from home.  For example, here is a great lesson on basic addition. This is FREE!  Pros: This website has all levels of learning.  Cons: You might have trouble finding exactly what you need. I am happy to help.
